Starting it all off with a break

Hey there all of you!

So the next official adventure has officially BEGUN and I'd like to try something new with this next big move in my life by linking it up to a map and making pictures more readily available... I didn't really love the old blog so here's to trying something new!

For those of you who need a quick catch-up (ketchup?) here's the dealyo:  Meg and Jimmy are moving to California!  Jimmy will be attending SCU Law starting this August and I'm going to go finally throw myself into what I really want to be doing and no longer what my wallet wants me to be doing.  Although, while we're all being honest here, taking a year to stock up my wallet definitely makes the "doing what I want to be doing" much easier.

So anyway!  We're going to inevitably make our way out to Santa Clara, CA but in the meantime, we've decided to really make this an adventure and do the cross-country road trip the right way.  In the  trusty little blue subaroo:

Obviously, sans kayak.  Plus two more bikes. For now at least.  I finished work on Friday the 24th and we rolled out of Burlington for the last time (at least for a while) on June 25th.  We headed straight for Fairlee, VT to go visit Jimmy's grandmother, Oma, and to get in some actual vacation time... since I've been working my little New England butt off trying to make sure everything at work was all set and everything in Burlington was ready to move.  I have to admit, in a way that makes thuuuper adult-like, it was really hard to get my brain to shut down and just relax.  It's nuts how getting so used to working right at 8am can really affect you.  I've woken up at 5:30am for the past 4 days now (and then promptly gone back to sleep mmmm yes.)  But, luckily, Fairlee is absolutely gorgeous and can make just about anyone stop moving and just breathe in the fresh mountain air.

Popular activities include: sitting on a dock, swimming, wading, fishing, paddlin', saving wayward turtles, listening to loons and owls at night, playing every sort of board game, word game and card game ever invented, sippin' wine and sleeping until the sun comes back out.

I'm back in Massachusetts for a week - Jimmy is hanging with Oma for another week for the 4th of July celebrations in Fairlee.  Here to clean, unpack, repack, say hello and goodbyes and get in one last taste of the Bahhston accent before we head out.  I'll be picking Jimmy up on the 6th, we'll spend 2 more days here and then drive down to Virginia just in time for a wedding (wait what? yeah Meg, that means dresses) and to throw all of Jimmy's stuff in and around the blue subaroo.

Once I have the map up and running I'll post a link to that so check back every now and then... but to keep you distracted in the meantime, check out more pictures of how AWESOME fairlee is.  And maybe consider getting a lake house there and [going up there every summer if, you know, you're the type of person who has a beach house down in New Jersey but would rather be vacationing somewhere sans Fake Tan Joe and Snooki and other bad excuses for TV and you have a daughter named Meg and you really like beautiful old house and you really like water andnicepeopleandsunshineandeasyboatingandclearwaterandvermontandmountainsandsleepingin..... ]ok sorry I'll stop.  That might or might not be one last ditch attempt on my part... tho thorry parents.

Dear Fairlee, I'll miss you.  Love, Meg
